ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OUT THERE ON DEFENSIVE HANDGUN!
When it comes to Firearms, Self-Defense, Executive Protection, and Fitness, Mark "Six" James is the consummate professional. Defensive Handgun II is the result of years of dedicated work and thousands of hours of training, to produce one of the BEST books out there on the subject! As a career close-protection specialist and instructor, this book covers all aspects of defensive shooting, but goes even deeper; with information on "One-Hand Operation, Bikes and Bullets, K-9 and Home Defense, and Stopping the Bleeding; a trademark of the authors work, by giving the reader more than expected. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking more knowledge and information on defensive handgun skills, techniques and methods.
Not just another firearms book!
As soon as you buy this book, because you’re here looking at it and reading this, open up to (and I know it sounds retarded to say) but chapters 1 & 2. Most important things you will read. Far too many people miss the information, because they don’t think about it, they just go out and impulse it. Chapter 2 talks about choosing your equipment and the other things outside of actually shooting. These items are important and must be seriously considered and tested prior to you going out and slapping a gun on. These small things people forget all the time are what really matter. Because trust me, as a Law Enforcement Officer for 12 years, i put on a thigh holster without really testing it, and had to chase a suspect and couldn’t get my gun put up in motion. That showed me just how much I didn’t know about my equipment and just how fast things can go south without proper choices. Get the book, get in it and soak it in. A lot of different things in here that you won’t see in other firearm books.
Excellent for both the novice and experienced!
Mark "Six" James has written a well thought out book that contains important information for anyone involved with or interested in handgun firearms. Well thought out chapters with plenty of clear photographs. Owning a firearm is a huge responsibility! This book does a great job of explains that and emphasizing safety. One point I particularly like about the book is that Mr. James also includes chapters not found in other similar material. Information such using firearms around motorcycles, having a dog as part of your defense plan, and basic first aide related to firearm wounds.

Book review: Defensive Handgun II By Mark James (Mark "Six" James) I have owned a number of gun books by authors such as Dave Spaulding, Massad Ayoob, Gabe Suarez, Jeff Cooper and Mickey Fowler. This book ranks with rhe best of them. This book gives you a solid understanding of the basic fundamentals for effectively utilizing a hangun for CCW/Self Defense and makes you understand that "advance" gunfighting is no more than mastery of the basic fundamentals. This concept is not new if you study because the authors I mentioned above also say the same thing. But this book touched a few subjects that are not mentioned in most books or conversations. The 3 subjects that made this stand out for me was the subjects of weapon retention, stopping the bleed and K-9. These were well written and more than just a glance at the subjects. I really enjoyed reading about using the K9 with your gun and planning around that as a citizen. I have asked this question more than once on the web and this is the first time I have seen it in print. To this, as a former Schutzhund devotee and owner of dogs that played into my overall self defense plan, I say BRAVO! If you're looking for a book that touches the fundamentals of CCW/Self Defense and discusses other topics that the gun carrier/owner will face, this one is well worth the money Thanks Mark James for a good read.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GREAT READ, HERE IT IS FOLKS. I really think this book should be on every book shelf in every home across the county. It will definitely give you a wealth of knowledge. Also the ability to train effectively from a beginners level to the experienced. It is a perfect gift for a college student traveling across the United States trying to get home for the holidays, vacationing abroad, or anyone who doesn't want to be a victim of violence. -the edc guy
Be The First Line Of Defense
Mark “Six” James has opened my eyes wider than they ever have been before, when it comes to personal protection. His thought process when it comes to weapons and the proper protocol in using your weapon in personal defense is unmatched. Along with bringing K-9 use to protection of your home and family is something I never thought about from the prospective he provides. This book is exactly what every man that is looking to protect his property, family and himself effectively in this harsh world that we have inherited.
A masterful Encyclopedic Handgun Training Book
Mark “Six James has written a masterful training manual of handgun defense. His book gives in encyclopedic detail from selecting to operationing a firearm covering every situation one can imagine. James’ book is powerfully relevant for a professional and it’s great even for a novice. Mark James is a consummate professional in the Protection industry who gives great practical education easy to understand by anyone in any life threatening situation . What makes Defensive Handgun II a greater read is that it also involves the author’s skill and knowledge of close quarter combat and first aid training in addition to firearm education. I strongly believe that Defensive Handgun II should be required reading for the anyone who desires to improve their skills in threat management.
Defensive Hand Gun 2 . It’s a family affair book !
So I received Mark “6”James’s new book a few months ago Defensive Handgun ll . As I started the read . The words ignited a different view inside of me . About protecting your family but the full view is how can your family protect each other,is how I’m reading into the chapters and adding our life style to the words in the book . So during our family vacation. I took them all to a Gun Club. My wife of 17yrs and my 2 children we put the words of the book to the range it became a family teachable moment as my family took to the hand gun like it was there favorite dispatching lead down range to a variety of targets !!!!!! This was there first time and my first time teaching live on a range . What I do know from the book defensive hand gun ll reading into mark “6” james’s proven case studies on being “your own first line of defense” Involves not just you but your whole family. My family has trained on defense and force on force to evacuating crime scene number #1, preventing crime scene #2. Everyone including myself ran the weapon fixing jams, how to grip and 1 left hand shooter ,eye sight , where your index finger should be at all times out of the trigger guard !!!! It was a safe family event. We will be back taking lessons directly from the book . I recommend this book Defensive Handgun ll Written by Mark”6” James Just remember to put your family in the position to fight a constant pervasive threat . Thank you Mark “6” James . TSA reasons I did handle the ammo and reloads. Our return flight having having +gun powder on my fingers where a TSA K9 will alert so keeping the Gun Club receipt as proof should I need to prove otherwise . Lessons for the pro and anti-gun believer
Mark James proficiency at writing on this subject is just as good and important as his proficiency and practice at teaching the lessons of safe firearm handling. With so much bad and misinformation on the subject of firearms and self protection it’s very important to have knowledgeable people teaching firearm ownership. Mr. James is on target with his installment, Defensive Handguns 2. He pours years of experience into this piece of work. With the debate for and against civilian firearm ownership we needed this comprehensive work. All can learn from what he’s put together here and I highly recommend you get a copy for self and at least one to share with another. Don’t make the mistake of judging the subject without a full understanding of the subject. Don’t make the mistake of loving your right to bear arms and not know the right way to to bear those arms.

This latest gem of literature by Mark “SIX” James is outstanding! As a seasoned Executive protection specialist, Teaching someone to be their own first line of defense is not easy in book form, until now! This book is an easy read, informative, and designed to be understood by the lay person as well as the professional. The best is, not only do you get the literature, you get illustrations to show you proper stances, manipulation of your firearm, and the right way to do things. With the visual aids that Mr. James gives you in this book, it will definitely help teach you how to become your own first line of defense! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to further their education on self defense as well as the professional EP specialist. This is the second installment, so please pick up the first edition as well, for an even more rounded educational experience!
